Sector News Update – 24th August 2020
It's been a busy week in education news, with Level 3 results changes and the delay of the release of BTEC results from Pearson.
Colleges have asked for flexibility in the use of the COVID-19 catch-up funding, to support 'borderline' students, due tot hings being 'more complex than ever' in supporting those without a grade 4.
Whilst some learners are struggling with lower grades than they were hoping for, there have been more top level results at GCSE and Alevel than ever, with languages and creative subjects seeing the highest increases in the top grades.
In Early Years Education, concerns about funding, lockdown and the impact of social distancing are growing with the Out of School Alliance raising concerns that after school clubs are at risk of collapse, and new survey findings showing that childcare settings face a 'long road back' from Covid.
